Stop what must not get in, or get out

Data centres, refineries, energy and government sites screen in two directions: weapons and unauthorised devices at the entrance, and data-bearing devices or precious metals at the exit.

AFB supplies the CEIA range for both, and keeps it calibrated so the sensitivity you specify is the sensitivity you get.

What makes high-security screening different

Two directions

Threat screening at the entrance and loss prevention at the exit need different settings, and often different detectors.

Small targets

A USB stick, a phone or a few grams of gold is far smaller than a weapon.

The same staff, every shift

People pass many times a day, so nuisance alarms on implants and rings quickly wear down trust in the system.

A difficult environment

Server halls and process plants are full of electrical noise and metal, which drives nuisance alarms when installation is wrong.

Audits and records

Operators must show what was screened and how each detector was set.

Choose the screening for each point

Point CEIA solution Why it fits
Site entrance, staff and visitors SMD600 Plus or HI-PE Plus walk-through NIJ-0601.02 weapons screening; HI-PE Plus shows where on the body the target is
Data hall entrance and exit SMD601 Plus with the MI2 sensor Detects phones, data storage devices and magnetic objects that could damage hard disks; harmless to magnetic media
Staff exit at refineries, vaults and electronics plants SMD601 Plus with personal profiling Stores each employee’s metallic profile and alarms only on newly carried items, ignoring implants, rings and piercings
Phones and ferrous contraband at temporary points MSD One-piece, 9.5 kg, working in under 10 seconds; 26 hours on battery
Mailroom EMIS-MAIL Detects letter bombs, IEDs, detonators, batteries and trigger circuits; no alarms on staples or paper clips
Secondary search PD240CB hand-held Long detection range and dual-tone pinpointing, with high immunity to floor rebar

Walk-through detectors can be networked, up to 50 through the CEIA MDNA network appliance, for central monitoring and records. See our article on connected security and NetID Anywhere.

Setup is half the sensitivity. CEIA detectors are precision instruments. Electrical noise, vibrating metal or a wrong configuration can drive up nuisance alarms and mask the threats the system is there to find. Our CEIA-certified engineer installs, calibrates and commissions every unit, and annual maintenance keeps it certified.

Where CEIA screening is used

CEIA screening protects data centres, government facilities, energy sites and precious-metal plants worldwide, and the same technology is trusted at airport checkpoints. Read more in our briefing on critical infrastructure and high-security sites.

Frequently asked

Which detector does a data centre need?

Usually two settings: weapons screening at the site entrance, and device screening at the data hall. The SMD601 Plus with the MI2 sensor covers the data hall; we confirm the mix in a site survey.

Will the detector alarm on medical implants?

Not with personal profiling. The stored profile ignores non-removable items such as implants, rings and piercings.

Is it safe next to servers and hard disks?

Yes. The SMD601 Plus is harmless to magnetic media.

Why does our current detector alarm so often?

Usually installation and calibration, not the equipment. We audit the set-up, recalibrate and retrain the operators.

Do you maintain detectors we already own?

Yes. Our annual maintenance contracts cover CEIA walk-through and hand-held detectors in the UAE, and elsewhere in the GCC by arrangement.

Can we trial a detector at our site?

Yes. We hold walk-through and hand-held trial units in the UAE for live trials.
