Choosing a walk-through detector
The right detector depends on the security standard your operation must meet and what you need to detect. HI-PE Plus offers 60-zone pinpointing for high-security screening; SMD600 Plus meets the NIJ-0601.02 standard where maximum sensitivity is required; SMD601 Plus is configured for loss prevention rather than weapons detection; and the MI2 configuration adds mobile phone detection to either platform for correctional and secure environments. For open-area screening without a fixed archway, see OPENGATE — two freestanding pillars allowing seamless transit at walking pace, with a very low nuisance alarm rate, high portability and battery operation for rapid deployment with no installation required.
Every installation is calibrated to your site’s security standard by a CEIA-certified engineer, and can be covered by an Annual Maintenance Contract including the twelve-monthly calibration certification CEIA requires. Detectors are also available for short and long-term rental.

Which walk-through detector meets NIJ standards?
The CEIA SMD600 Plus was the first walk-through detector on the market fully compliant with the NIJ-0601.02 standard, used where very high sensitivity is required.
Do walk-through detectors need annual calibration?
Yes — CEIA requires the calibration of every walk-through detector to be verified and re-certified every twelve months by a technician certified for that purpose. AFB holds that certification.
Can we rent walk-through detectors for an event?
Yes. CEIA walk-through detectors and OPENGATE are available for short and long-term rental, delivered, installed and calibrated by our engineer.
